we are currently looking for the following positions:


ECONOMIST specialised in European Economic Policy

Major tasks:
  • Applied empirical research in the field of European Economic Policy
  • Widen our expertise in the political economy of the European Union
  • Acquisition and execution of research projects across wiiw’s focus areas

The position is limited to two years in the first instance; can be extended following a satisfactory probationary period.
Start: as soon as possible – ideally by June 2021

Requirements:
  • MA or PhD in Economics
  • Expertise in European Economic Policy
  • Knowledge of several of the following areas: macroeconomics, trade, FDI, labour markets, industry and regional studies, environment and digitalisation
  • Readiness to do applied economic research in a broad range of economic issues, particularly related to the European Union
  • Good quantitative and econometric skills (use of MS Office, Stata and/or R)
  • Knowledge of both conventional and heterodox economic analyses
  • Excellent English and German (written and oral); knowledge of East European languages is an advantage
  • Very good (proposal) writing and presentation skills
  • Flexibility as well as ability to work in teams

Monthly remuneration (14 times per year) for the 40 weekly hours position will be € 3,000 gross or above, depending on qualification. Women are particularly encouraged to apply.

ECONOMIST specialised in the economics of the Visegrád group countries

Major tasks:
  • Applied empirical research in economics (macroeconomics preferred)
  • Maintain our expertise on the Visegrád group economies (PL, CZ, SK, HU)
  • Acquisition and execution of research projects
  • Project acquisitions also in areas outside the narrow research focus

The position is limited to two years in the first instance; can be extended following a satisfactory probationary period.
Start: as soon as possible – ideally by June 2021

Requirements:
  • MA or PhD in Economics
  • Experience in conducting macroeconomic research on Visegrád countries
  • Existing contacts with regional academics, policymakers and journalists
  • Interest in applied economic research
  • Quantitative and econometric skills
  • Knowledge of both conventional and heterodox economic analyses
  • Excellent English (written and oral); knowledge of at least one Visegrád group language; German is an advantage
  • Very good (proposal) writing and presentation skills
  • Flexibility as well as ability to work in teams

Monthly remuneration for the 40 weekly hours position will be € 2,983.47 gross, 14 times per year or above, depending on qualification. Women are particularly encouraged to apply.

Post-Doc ECONOMIST specialised in international economics

  • PhD in Economics (or close to completion)
  • Expertise in trade policy
  • Expertise in FDI and/or environmental issues is an advantage
  • Interest in applied economic research
  • Good quantitative and econometric skills (use of MS Office, Stata and/or R)
  • Knowledge of both conventional and heterodox economic analyses
  • Excellent English and German (written and oral); knowledge of East European languages is an advantage
  • Very good (proposal) writing and presentation skills
  • Flexibility as well as ability to work in teams

Monthly remuneration for the 40 weekly hours position will be € 3,945.90 gross, 14 times per year or above, depending on qualification. Women are particularly encouraged to apply.
