The Jobs Gateway in South Eastern Europe

The SEE Jobs Gateway Database is a joint project between the World Bank and the Vienna Institute for International Economic Studies (wiiw). It provides a detailed and harmonized set of labor market indicators for the six Western Balkan and four EU peer countries:

Western Balkan countries
  • Albania
  • Bosnia and Herzegovina
  • Kosovo
  • Montenegro
  • North Macedonia
  • Serbia
EU peer countries
  • Austria
  • Bulgaria
  • Croatia
  • Hungary

The data are based upon national Labour Force Surveys starting from 2010 and are available on a quarterly and annual basis. The SEE Jobs Gateway Database covers four parts: (i) Key economic indicators, (ii) Labor market indicators, (iii) Labor market data on a sub-national level and (iv) Data on earnings and unit labor costs. Definitions, methodological notes and breaks in time series are provided in the ‘Metadata’ on the SEE Jobs Gateway Database website.

On the basis of this database, annual flagship reports - Western Balkans Labor Market Trends - are published in spring of each year starting from 2017.

The SEE Jobs Gateway was funded by the Austrian Federal Ministry of Finance.
