Standard Terms and Conditions

1. Scope

The Vienna Institute for International Economic Studies (wiiw), Rahlgasse 3, 1060 Wien, offers publications and data subject to the following Standard Terms and Conditions. The Terms and Conditions shall apply, without exception, in the version published at the time of the placement of your order. You may download the text of the standard terms and conditions on your computer or make a printout. We will not accept any deviating conditions, unless they have been confirmed by us in writing.

2. Conclusion of Contract

The contract for the purchase of publications or data between wiiw and the customer is concluded as soon as the customer clicks the “Buy now” button, after having viewed a summary of all products in the shopping cart, the shipping conditions, and the total price. A written confirmation of the order is sent to the customer via e-mail as soon as the contract has been concluded and, in case of payment by credit card, the transaction via mPay24 has been finished.

3. Right of Revocation

  1. You have the right to revoke the contract without stating a reason within 14 days after the receipt of goods by submitting a written statement to The Vienna Institute for International economic Studies, Rahlgasse 3, 1060 Vienna, Austria. The contract revocation must be sent within this period.
  2. The right of revocation does not apply for orders that are delivered electronically (e.g. download of publications or data) or for CD-ROMs whose seals you have broken.
  3. In the case of revocation we shall reimburse the purchasing price after we receive the goods delivered. Reimbursement is subject to the goods being in unused condition. Should the goods be damaged we shall reduce the reimbursement accordingly. You will have to bear the shipment costs of returning the goods for all items costing less than euro 40. For items exceeding that amount wiiw will bear the shipment costs.

4. Prices - Terms of Payment

  1. Your contract is based upon the prices displayed on the website of The Vienna Institute for International Economic Studies at the time of ordering. We reserve the right to check if the order was placed by a member of the institute or a non-member. Depending on the status of the ordering institution or person and the on the shipping address, the respective prices, as displayed in the shopping cart, shall apply.
  2. The Vienna Institute for International Economic Studies is a non-profit institution and exempt from valued added tax. All quoted prices do therefore not include any statutory value added tax. Shipping costs are charged separately, on the basis of our list of shipping costs.

5. Delivery

  1. Goods are normally delivered within 7 working days starting with your order, at the latest within 30 days of your order. Should we not be able to accept your order due to unavailability of the goods we will inform you immediately.
  2. Purchased products are delivered to the shipping address supplied by you in the course of your order. You may state a shipping address other than the invoice address. Should you provide us with incorrect, incomplete or contradicting information, you will bear the resulting costs.
  3. Shipping costs will be calculated while processing your order and will be indicated before you finalize your order. Shipping costs include postal charges and a handling fee. Within Europe we ship by "non priority" mail; overseas we ship by "priority mail".

6. Payment

  1. For the payment of the publications and data that may be purchased via the shopping cart of the website we only accept credit card payment by Visa Card or Master Card. Your credit card payment is processed via our payment platform (mpay24) which guarantees secure transactions (128-bit SSL encoding). Your credit card transaction is supported by VerifiedbyVISA or MasterCard SecureCode respectively.
  2. Invoices for other goods and services of The Vienna Institute for International Economic Studies are payable without delay after receipt of the invoice and without any deductions. All payments are to be made to our account without any charges for us. Should payments be delayed we reserve the right to charge interest on account of delay.

7. Data protection (Privacy Policy)

  1. Employees of wiiw are subject to the obligations stipulated by the Austrian data protection law.
  2. You, as a customer, expressly accept that the customer-specific data in the contract may be used and processed electronically by our accounting and customer service department. The data may be used to fulfil obligations stipulated by law as well as for the processing of your order and payment. Customer data will not be supplied to third parties, unless such information is necessary to fulfil your order (e.g. for purposes of shipment). Business partners of wiiw are instructed about data protection regulations and bound by them.

8. Copyright

The complete content (text, data, graphs, tables) of the website of The Vienna Institute for International Economic Studies as well as of its publications and databases are the property of The Vienna Institute for International Economic Studies and protected by Austrian and international copyright laws. All rights are reserved. Any reproduction and dissemination of data and information as well as its commercial use is only granted with the explicit written permission of The Vienna Institute for International Economic Studies. Any acceptable form of use is only permitted with correct quotation of the source "The Vienna Institute for International Economic Studies" or "wiiw".

9. Miscellaneous

All our sales contracts shall be governed by Austrian law. Court of jurisdiction is the appropriate court in Vienna.

If any provision of these Standard Terms and Conditions is held to be invalid or unenforceable to any extent, such invalidity will not affect any other provision. Invalid or missing provisions will be replaced by the respective legal regulations.
