Abstract

The steady increase in minimum wages in recent years has sparked the need for a comprehensive analysis of its multifaceted effects. This research project aimed to investigate the implications of minimum wage growth, focusing on North Macedonia, a middle-income economy that experienced a 49% increase in its minimum wage from 2016 to 2023. Additionally, the study examined the regulation of minimum wages in Austria, where no legally established minimum wage exists, but it is instead governed through collective agreements, leading to ongoing debates on the necessity of legal regulation.
