Greece and Europe: An Eyewitness Account

James Galbraith worked closely with Yanis Varoufakis during the Greek bailout negotiations. In a video-interview, he shares insights about their course and implications for the country.
James K. Galbraith is a prominent commentator on economic policy issues in US and Europae and one of the foremost researchers of economic inequality. He holds the Lloyd M. Bentsen Jr. Chair in Government/Business Relations and a professorship of Government at the Lyndon B. Johnson School of Public Affairs, The University of Texas at Austin. He holds degrees from Harvard and Yale and studied as a Marshall Scholar at King's College, Cambridge. Galbriath served in several positions on the staff of the U.S. Congress, including executive director of the Joint Economic Committee. Galbraith is also a member of the Lincean Academy, the oldest honorary scientific society in the world.
On 5 October 2015, he gave a lecture in the wiiw seminar series Policy Perspectives for European Integration on the Greek bailout negotiations and the implications of their outcome for the future of Greece and Europe. Just before his lecture, he gave a video intview to wiiw Scientific director Michael Landesmann.
