The candidate should have an MA in economics and/or spatial planning and good quantitative and econometric skills
If you are appointed, your major tasks will be:
- Economic research on sub-national regions in the EU and its neighbourhood
- Data collection and analysis
- Acquisition and execution of research projects
We are seeking someone with:
- An MA in Economics and/or Spatial Planning
- Willingness to constantly learn and explore new research agendas
- An interest in applied research and policy evaluation
- Good quantitative and econometric skills (Stata/R; GIS skills are an advantage)
- An excellent command of English (written and oral)
- Ideally, German and/or Eastern European language skills
- Very good (proposal) writing and presentation skills
- A positive working attitude
- An ability to work independently as well as in teams
- Research experience in regional and spatial analysis and knowledge of territorial development policies are a plus

Initially, the contract will be for a fixed term of 24 months, but the appointment could be made permanent (subject to a satisfactory probationary period). Monthly remuneration (14 times per year) for a 40-hour week will be € 3,286.40 gross (FWF Austrian Science Fund standard salary for a PhD candidate) or above, depending on qualifications and experience.
