The aim of this project is (1) to give a detailed overview of the advantages and disadvantages of deregulation in the European context; (2) with regard to the interests of customers, rail companies, network operators, the public sector and general economic and environmental aspects; (3) to present the experiences of the Californian energy sector and to analyze to what extent lessons can be learned for rail transport. The study will be written in German.
