In a video interview Prof. L Alan Winters shares his concerns about currently negotiated 'mega-regional' trade agreements (TTIP and TPP) which go counter to a non-discriminatory multilateral trade system and exclude China

Professor L Alan Winters gave a keynote speech on Regionalism and the WTO at the recent FIW/CER Workshop on the Political Economy of Trade, held on 22 September 2015 at the Federal Ministry of Science, Research and Economy (BMWFW) in Vienna. In a video interview with wiiw Scientific director Michael Landesmann, he talks about the geostrategic implications of current trade policy agreements.

L Alan Winters is Professor of Economics at the University of Sussex. He is a Research Fellow and former Programme Director of the Centre for Economic Policy Research (CEPR, London), Fellow of IZA, Munich and member of the Scientific Advisory Board, wiiw. Apart from his academic work, Professor Winters has a distinguished record in international organisations. From 2008 to 2011 he was Chief Economist at the British government’s Department for International Development (DFID), and from 2004 to 2007 Director of the Development Research Group of the World Bank.
