Biljana Jovanovikj is Economist at wiiw with extensive research experience in a wide array of topics, such as monetary policy, economic growth, macroeconomic forecasting, productivity and firm behaviour. Her most recent research is focused on tobacco taxation and determinants of smoking initiation. Previously, she has worked as a researcher and an adviser at the National Bank of the Republic of North Macedonia from 2007 to 2021. She holds a master’s degree in economics from the Staffordshire university, Stoke-on-Trent and a Ph.D. in Economics from the Institute of Economics – Skopje.
