Description

Join us for our upcoming hybrid event where we will present the findings from our project 'Genetic innovation, intermediate goods and energy prices in an agent-based model'.

In this session, the speakers will discuss the findings of the project which is comprised of three papers:

  • The structural interdependency of industries: An agent-based model
  • Genetic innovation in an agent-based model: A new form of technological change
  • Energy as the activator of the capital stock: an agent-based modelling perspective

Agent-based models have been receiving ever more attention in recent years. We develop a new agent-based model that incorporates multiple industries, multiple firm types (final good, intermediate good or capital good producers), differentiates between homogenous intermediate and tailor-made capital goods and employs the Almost Ideal Demand System (AIDS) for modelling household consumption behaviour. A first extension of the model enables a new way to model technological change (“genetic innovation”), where firms incrementally update their production coefficients. In a second extension, “energy activates the capital stock”: only with energy can capital provide useful work as an input to the production process.

Don't miss the opportunity to gain valuable insights into the various aspects of agent-based models, innovation and energy modelling.

This event takes place in the framework of the project 'Genetic innovation, intermediate goods and energy prices in an agent-based model' which is financed by the Anniversary Fund of the Oesterreichische Nationalbank (Project No. 18830).

The support provided by the Oesterreichische Nationalbank for this research is gratefully acknowledged.
