EU in Crisis

The wiiw seminar series ‘The EU in crisis’ is the continuation of two earlier wiiw seminar series, ‘Crisis management in Central, East and Southeast Europe: What is to be done?’ and ‘Policy options for the post-crisis economy in Central, East and Southeast Europe’.

In this series, our emphasis is on issues that affect the future of the European Union: we shall look at the EU crisis and at its effects on the rest of Europe. The future of the euro, the closer fiscal and economic cooperation of the member states, bail-out schemes, solutions to the prevailing debt problems in the southern rim of the Union, as well as possible disintegration are the topics we expect to remain of utmost importance in this and the coming years. The impact of the current systemic EU crisis on new member states, future enlargements and the neighbourhood of the EU will remain an integrated part of the discourse in this seminar series as well.
