• Why is Russia's economy holding up better than expected?
• How is the slowdown in the euro area affecting Eastern Europe's economies?
• Will Southeast Europe continue to do better in a regional comparison?
• What are the reasons for the persistently high inflation in the region?
• Has inflation peaked and what does that mean for monetary policy?
• Is the time right for fiscal consolidation in some countries in the region?
• How are the war and sanctions affecting Austria's investments in Russia, Belarus and Ukraine?

Presenter: Vasily Astrov

Richard Grieveson is Deputy Director at the Vienna Institute for International Economic Studies (wiiw) and Research Associate at the Diplomatic Academy of Vienna. He specialises in the economies of Central, East and Southeast Europe, with a particular focus on Turkey and the Western Balkans.

Vasily Astrov is Economist at wiiw and country expert for Russia and other CIS countries. His research focuses on macroeconomic analysis and energy issues.
