Throughout the event, the speakers will discuss the findings of the project which comprises of four papers:

Speaker(s)
Antea Barišić is a Postdoctoral Researcher at the Department of Economic Theory at the University of Zagreb, Faculty of Economics and Business. Her research primarily focuses on global value chains, foreign direct investment, international migration, and technological change. She holds a Ph.D. in International Economics, summa cum laude, from the University of Zagreb. Her training includes completion of various methodological courses and courses in the field of research conducted at London School of Economics, Paris School of Economics and Barcelona School of Economics. Barišić has actively contributed to several scientific projects funded by international and local institutions in Croatia. She has served as a member of the organising committee at two international conferences and as a reviewer in various scientific journals and international conferences.
Tesseltje de Lange is Professor of European Migration Law and Director of the Centre for Migration Law at Radboud University in Nijmegen, the Netherlands. She is an expert on labour migration policy and practice. She published widely on and speaks regularly on policy conundrums related to regular pathways for labour migration into the EU. A renowned socio-legal scholar, her extensive work focuses on migrant rights, particularly with respect to skills development and worker rights. De Lange serves as Principal Investigator on EU HorizonEurope projects DignityFIRM (www.dignityform.eu) on the rights of low-waged (irregular) migrant workers in European Farm2Fork sectors and GS4S (which kicked-off early 2024), investigating a Global Strategy for Skills, assessing the role of migration and its trade-offs in addressing skills shortages in Europe, as well as the impact of skilling and migration on development in countries of origin. Her latest book was published with CUP in 2021 on Money Matters in Migration.
Mahdi Ghodsi is Economist at wiiw. His research focuses on international trade, international trade policy, non-tariff measures, industrial policy, foreign direct investment, global value chains, environmental technologies and innovation, political economy of sanctions, and the Iran economy. He is a member of the editorial board of International Economics. He holds a Ph.D. in economics from Università Cattolica del Sacro Cuore - Sede di Milano and a second Ph.D. in international economics from the Faculty of Economic Sciences, University of Warsaw.
Alireza Sabouniha is Research Assistant at wiiw and holds a master's degree in Economics from the Vienna University of Economics and Business (WU Wien). His research focuses on Applied Econometrics, Labor Economics, International Economics, Data Science, and Machine Learning. Previously, he worked as an economic researcher at the Central Bank of Iran and the Tehran Chamber of Commerce.
