Discussion on the subject of: Rebuilding Ukraine after the War?

In cooperation with:

Venue

Oesterreichische Nationalbank, Otto-Wagner-Platz 3, 1090 Vienna

Description

Russia's war against Ukraine continues to have a devastating impact on European economies. Expected to last for an extended period of time, the damage it has already done is not going away any time soon. Years of income and development gains have already been lost, and there is growing concern in Europe about a sharp global economic slowdown, rising inflation and debt, and an increase in poverty rates. The economic impact of the war has so far been felt through a variety of channels, including commodity and financial markets, trade and migration relations, and the erosion of confidence. While an end to the conflict is not yet in sight, the EU, Ukraine and its allies are already facing the next challenge: the necessary reconstruction of the country, which must take place in a turbulent economic environment. How should the EU approach this challenge? What will be the scale of the reconstruction needs in Ukraine? What is at stake for the EU and its member states?

The Austro-French Centre for Rapprochement in Europe (CFA/ÖFZ), the French Institute of International Relations (IFRI), the Vienna Institute for International Economic Studies (wiiw) and the Austrian Nation Bank (OeNB) would like to invite you to discuss these issues and many others. The conference in Vienna will take place on the same day as the high-level Paris Conference on Ukraine.
