The following questions will be addressed:
- Are Eastern Europe’s economies still resilient in the face of weak global growth, and how is the recession in Germany affecting the region?
- Is Eastern Europe moving towards a new equilibrium of lower growth and higher inflation?
- How quickly will central banks cut interest rates?
- How supportive is fiscal policy, and are there signs of austerity on the horizon?
- Have there been any noticeable adverse social impacts due to the inflationary environment?
- Is the Ukrainian economy still weathering the storm?
- Are there cracks appearing in the Russian economy?

Presenter: Branimir Jovanovic
Moderator: Richard Grieveson
Branimir Jovanovic is Economist at wiiw and country expert for North Macedonia and Serbia. His current research interests lie mainly around economic inequality, poverty, fiscal policy, taxation, social policies, labour rights, as well as financial crises and post-crises recoveries.
Richard Grieveson is Deputy Director at the Vienna Institute for International Economic Studies (wiiw) and Research Associate at the Diplomatic Academy of Vienna. He specialises in the economies of Central, East and Southeast Europe, with a particular focus on Turkey and the Western Balkans.
