The report, titled 'Foreign Investments Mostly Robust Despite Global Downturn; Shift into Services', presents an analysis of recent developments in foreign direct investment (FDI) flows and stocks in 23 countries of Central, East and Southeast Europe (CESEE), relying primarily on the freshly updated wiiw FDI Database. The paper looks into the following questions:
- What are the causes of the global FDI downturn in 2018 and how could most of the CESEE countries maintain high inflows?
- Which are the main investors and targeted industries?
- Why is the shift into services seen only in the number of greenfield investment projects and not in the structure of FDI?
- Does Austria lose positions as a direct investor in CESEE?
- What can be expected in 2019 and beyond based on economic growth prospects and business sentiment?
The presentation will be in English.
Attendees will also have the opportunity to ask questions.
